AMERICA’S CHRISTIAN HISTORY? – CR SUMMER 2005 (REVISED AND EXPANDED 2012)

WHAT FIRST CAUGHT my attention was an article published in the Midnight Call magazine (Midnight Call Ministries), ‘Christian Nation’ Founded by Masons and Deists?, October 2010.  Then, after watching several times Christian Pinto’s newest video, Hidden Faith of the Founding Fathers, I was challenged to research, in context, a large sampling of the various quotations from the historical documents mentioned in the DVD.  The results were astonishing when compared to the many, as I soon realized, out of context claims or implications of David Barton of WallBuilders, and others that claim that America was founded as a Christian nation.  In my original version of this article, I had taken the quotes that seem to support the Christianity claims of the Founders at face value, without looking at the original source documents.  I had believed the integrity of Barton and others when accepting their claims.  The quotes supporting the Christianity claims are given by David Barton in his many videos, and those of William J. Federer in his books.  It is the Christianity claims of the key Founders that is the basis of this article.  This revision is the result of further research into the founding of our nation, the United States of America, and the men who brought it about.  After delving into the writings of those considered to be our nation’s Founders, I am convinced that we have been purposely misled about the premise on which the United States was founded.
